ABOUT
L.P PHYSIO
LP Physio is a private practice situated in the Northern Suburbs of Cape Town in Durbanville. We believe the human body is perfectly designed and engineered to allow efficient movement to take place. Throughout life we sustain physical injuries, walk around with pain, undergo surgery, sit longer than we should and often regress in strength due to our busy lifestyles. Our aim is to help you reduce pain, restore function and optimise your movement once again so that you can live a productive and fulfilling life, using your body to the best of its biomechanical ability.
MEET THE TEAM
Lomé Prinsloo: Registered Physiotherapist and Founder
&
FG-MLD Certified Lymphoedema Therapist
I completed the Body Arts and Science International (B.A.S.I) Pilates Certification and qualified as a Pilates instructor in 2008. Teaching individual and group classes helped me discover my love for clients with physical impairments or limitations. With a background in ballet, I always knew I had an interest in human movement. At the studio, I enjoyed working with clients with physical impairments or those requiring modification or a softer approach. This led to further interest in the disorder of movement, and I subsequently decided to study Physiotherapy.
I completed my undergraduate degree in BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy from the University of Stellenbosch in 2012. I spent the following year doing my community service at Karl Bremer Hospital where I gained experience in multiple fields of physiotherapy. In 2014 I began working in private practice and spent the next 6 and a half years simultaneously gaining experience in the out-patient department and sub-acute rehab hospital that focuses on neuro, orthopaedic and medical/surgical rehabilitation. I enjoyed the diversity of seeing patients in the general practice as well as working with hospital patients in the field of rehab. In 2016 I became a practice manager and assisted with the daily operations of this busy well established practice, taking responsibility for 9 physiotherapists. In 2016 I founded Lomé Prinsloo Physiotherapy and started teaching Movement Groups to psychiatric in-patients at Vredekloof Clinic. These classes are presented every morning as part of the daily in-patient program. Here I still continue to consult for evaluations and/or treatments on a referral basis.
In 2020 LP Physio opened its doors in Durbanville inside Cape Town Pain Clinic. My experience there awoke a further interest in working with patients with complex and chronic pain. My interest further evolved to helping cancer patients who suffer from the side effects of cancer or the medical treatments they receive. To best serve and holistically treat cancer patients, I have become certified as a Cancer Exercise Specialist® and become a certified FG-MLD Lymphoedema Therapist. Whether you are a cancer patient, chronic pain sufferer, a weekend warrior, or the average person seeking help, I consider each patient walking through my doors my top priority.
Stefanie Van Zyl: Registered Physiotherapist
I am a registered physiotherapist, devoted to understanding, helping and empowering my patients. I
believe in a holistic, person-centered approach and enjoy hands-on therapy techniques, including the
treatment of neuromuscular skeletal conditions, with an interest in therapeutic movement, mental
health and wellness.
I completed my BSc Physiotherapy degree at the University of the Western Cape in 2020. Relocated
to the majestic rural Eastern Cape for my community service year, where I learned that
physiotherapy is much more than a physical approach to therapy, but should consider the person as
a whole, as we are unique and complex and many times so are our conditions, experiences and
expectations. I then made the shift into private healthcare, where I had the opportunity to engage
and learn from multiple specialties, including hospital, rehabilitation and multi-disciplinary-based
work. I also worked within the outpatient setting, with a focus on neuromusculoskeletal conditions,
Pilates and exercise therapy.
In 2023, I moved back to Cape Town and joined the LP Physio team. I assist with teaching Movement Groups
at a Psychiatric clinic, and consult at the clinic for private sessions. I also work at the out-patient practice in Durbanville in the mornings. I have completed a course in exercise for cancer patients and assist Lome in seeing patients who are in need of cancer rehabilitation.
I believe in treating all patients with quality,
holistically-approached treatment on their journey to recovery and restoration, no matter what the diagnosis.
