FAQS

Q&A: FAQ

DO YOU ACCEPT MEDICAL AIDS?

  • ICD-10 codes are utilised to facilitate re-imbursment from your medical aid.

  • However, we are a private practice and you are expected to pay after each session and then personally claim back from your medical aid.

WILL MY MEDICAL AID COVER THE FULL COST?

  • Our fees are structured according to the South African Society of Physiotherapy practice codes.

  • Please note that we are a private practice and although our fees are in line with most medical aids, a few of them cover less for the codes charged (See billing).

DO YOU SUBMIT TO THE MEDICAL AIDS ON YOUR BEHALF?

  • No. It is your responsibility to submit your claim to your medical aid.

DO I NEED A DOCTORS REFERRAL?

  • Physiotherapists have first line practitioner status in South Africa, meaning you do not first need to be seen or referred by a doctor.

  • We perform evaluations and will refer to the necessary medical professional if indicated.

  • In order to provide a patient-centered multidisciplinary approach, we work closely with other health practitioners such as GP's, surgeons, specialists and other allied health care professionals.

HOW DO I PREPARE FOR MY FIRST VISIT?

  • Please come 10 minutes early to fill out paperwork so that this does not subtract from your consultation time.

  • You will be asked to fill out a form with your details and sign a consent to treatment page.

  • Please note that all initial consultations are 1 hour and follow up sessions are 45 minutes.

WHAT DOES A SESSION ENTAIL?

  • With your initial consultation you will first be asked questions about your previous and current medical history, medication you are on, sport you play and your current complaints will be discussed.

  • You will then undergo an in depth physical evaluation to establish a diagnosis.

  • For an accurate assessment to be performed, the area in question needs to be exposed. Shorts and gowns will be provided but feel free to bring your own shorts, strap tops etc.

  • A treatment session is included in your initial consultation. Treatment techniques will depend on the outcome of your evaluation.

  • You will be educated during or after the session about self management strategies (e.g. Stretches, exercises, ergonomics etc.)

  • A follow-u session may be required but this will be discussed between you and the physiotherapist.

  • After the session you will be expected to pay.

  • You will receive a statement indicating your payment, with the necessary ICD-10 codes so that you can personally submit your claim to your medical aid for reimbursement.

WHAT ARE YOUR PAYMENT OPTIONS?

  • Secure online payments are available.

  • We have card facilities and prefer card payments.

  • We accept Visa and Mastercard debit and credit cards. Including chip and pin and swipe cards.

  • We do NOT accept RCS, fleet, AMEX, and Diner's Club cards.

HOW CAN I MAKE APPOINTMENTS?

  • You can phone to make a booking, make one via whatsapp or make an online booking.

  • Follow-up sessions are often discussed between you and the physio and arranged as needed/indicated.

WHAT IS YOUR CANCELLATION POLICY?

We have a lenient 2-hour cancellation policy. You can reschedule or cancel online if you create an account. If you fail to cancel 2 hours prior to your appointment, you will be charged a full follow-up session of R570.00. This will not be covered by your medical aid. Please understand that another patient could not be accommodated as the allocated time slot was filled.
